17-Year-Old pregnant Girl Shot In The Head, Baby Survives

A Chicago teen who was 5 1/2-months pregnant was fatally shot on Christmas Day in south suburban Dolton, but her baby survived the shooting.
The 17-year-old was shot in the back of the head in the 1100 block of East 152nd Street, according to Dolton Deputy Police Chief Abe Martinez.
She has been identified as Eva Casara, of the 3300 block of West 64th Place, a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.
A person found the girl “injured and lying on the ground” and alerted authorities at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday, Martinez said.
She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition. She was pronounced dead at 10:52 a.m. Thursday, but her baby is still alive, he said.
“When they took (the baby) to the hospital [the baby] was only 22 weeks,” Martinez said. The baby is “alive and at Christ Hospital.”
There are no suspects in custody, Martinez said. The South Suburban Major Crime Task Force is investigating.
